AP Racing braking technology supports record-breaking JCB Hydromax at Bonneville

AP Racing is proud to have supported the JCB Hydromax project, which set a new FIA world land speed record for a hydrogen-powered vehicle at the Bonneville Salt Flats on August 11, 2026, averaging 406.320 mph across two runs.

Driven by Wing Commander Andy Green OBE, the twin-engined streamliner is powered by two production-based hydrogen engines and reached 400.623 mph and 412.135 mph during its official runs. In doing so, it became the fastest hydrogen-powered vehicle ever recorded and established a new benchmark for hydrogen internal combustion technology.

As the project's braking supplier, AP Racing provided the high-performance equipment needed to deliver confidence, precision and control in one of motorsport's most demanding environments.

The achievement follows a successful Bonneville Speed Week campaign, where JCB Hydromax established a new Southern California Timing Association (SCTA) class record of 368.347 mph as the team continued its pursuit of the FIA world land speed record. It also surpassed JCB Dieselmax's 350.092 mph record set 20 years ago, a project which also featured AP Racing braking systems.

From global motorsport championships to pioneering engineering programmes, AP Racing continues to support projects that push the boundaries of performance, innovation and technical excellence.

Everyone at AP Racing congratulates the entire JCB Hydromax team and Wing Commander Andy Green OBE on this remarkable achievement.
