Servicing and Reconditioning

Servicing and Reconditioning

Brake Calipers are a safety critical item and AP Racing recommend that calipers are reconditioned and piston seals inspected regularly to maintain optimum performance.

Where calipers have been subjected to high temperatures or have been used in adverse conditions such as rallying, the calipers should be reconditioned and the seals replaced more frequently to ensure that safety and performance levels are maintained.
AP Racing recommend that Brake Calipers if cleaned should be washed with soapy water or an alcohol based cleaning fluid e.g. Methylated Spirits.

IMPORTANT NOTE:
DO NOT USE PETROL, GASOLINE OR ANY MINERAL OIL BASED CLEANER /LUBRICATE as these will damage the seals.

Parts must be absolutely dry before re-assembly.
Seal Repair Kit Part Numbers can be identified in the Technical Info available for each caliper, see the Application Guide and from the tables Replacement Caliper Seals.

Replacement seals should be soaked in Brake Fluid for 30 minutes prior to fitment.

A complete reconditioning service is available from AP Racing. For more information please contact us or your nearest distributor.
